Zoonotic Surveillance USAID EPT Program
PREDICT Zoonotic Disease Surveillance
USAID Emerging Pandemic Threats (EPT) Program

As Consortium Partner, conducted sentinel surveillance for zoonotic pathogens with pandemic potential across Africa (Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Congo, Gabon, Sierra Leone, Guinea Conakry) and Southeast Asia (Laos PDR, Indonesia, Malaysia).

Established sampling protocols at high-risk human-animal interfaces, contributed to early warning data systems, and supported identification and characterization of novel viruses to inform global health security preparedness.

Market Surveillance DTRA BTRP / STEP
CANARIES Live Animal Market Surveillance Network
U.S. Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) Biological Threat Reduction Program (BTRP) — Scientific and Technical Engagement Partnership (STEP)

For STEP Prime Contractor, supported the Consortium of Animal Market Networks to Assess Risk of Emerging Infectious Diseases through Enhanced Surveillance (CANARIES) across Cambodia and Southeast Asia.

Helped strengthen Consortium framework for data collection and risk assessment at live animal market interfaces to generate actionable intelligence informing targeted public health interventions.

Environmental Sampling Gates Foundation
Environmental Sampling for Zoonotic Pathogen Detection – Cambodia
Gates Foundation

In collaboration with Prime Contractor, facilitated a multisectoral workshop – the first participatory exercise globally to apply metagenomic environmental surveillance data – generating a preliminary roadmap for embedding metagenomic environmental sampling into national early-warning systems in Cambodia.

Supported development of visualization tools tailored to end-user needs and frameworks for multisectoral governance to inform public health action when pathogen circulation is detected.

HIV Surveillance U.S. DHAPP
DHAPP HIV Case Surveillance & Epidemic Monitoring
U.S. Defense HIV/AIDS Prevention Program (DHAPP)

Implemented person-centered HIV monitoring and case surveillance across 19 military hospitals and clinics in Sierra Leone and multiple sites across Central and West Africa. Developed robust strategic information frameworks to track progress toward 95-95-95 epidemic control goals through systematic data collection and analysis.

Pathogen Surveillance DTRA BTRP / BTRIC
High-Consequence Pathogen Surveillance
U.S. Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) Biological Threat Reduction Program (BTRP) — Biological Threat Reduction Integrating Contract (BTRIC)

In support of BTRIC Prime Contractor, managed Collaborative Biological Research (CBR) projects conducting active surveillance for high-consequence pathogens in Eastern Europe. Projects included field surveillance and sample collection for highly pathogenic avian influenza virus in poultry and wild bird populations, Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus in tick vectors, and African swine fever virus in domestic swine and wild boar.

Recruited 125 multisectoral scientists for field operations and laboratory analysis. Surveillance data informed risk assessment and response planning for diseases with epidemic and pandemic potential.
